Globelink Ünimar wins the Special Jury Award with its Unique Steps project

Globelink Ünimar, Turkey, won the Special Jury Award at the Atlas Logistics Awards with its Unique Steps project. The Atlas Logistics Awards award ceremony was held on November 17, 2022, as part of the International Logitrans Transport Logistics Fair.

Globelink Ünimar aims to introduce young talents to the logistics industry, to support the recruitment of qualified workforce in the ecosystem, and to continue contributing to youth employment with the Unique Steps project it has implemented.

Levent Terzi, Executive Committee Member of Globelink Ünimar, who participated in the Atlas Logistics Awards, said,

We are very happy to be deemed worthy of the Special Jury Award category at the Atlas Logistics Awards, where the best in the industry are awarded. We are also proud to have received this award with a project we care about like Unique Steps.

With the Unique Steps project, we believe that we have taken important steps in bringing qualified workforce to the sector and integrating young talents into the logistics ecosystem. In the first year of our project, we brought in 23 new talents, 65 percent of whom were women. It is also gratifying for us that 87 percent of our new talents are in Generation Z. Both data are an important indicator that our policies for women's participation in business life and youth employment continue successfully.

In accordance with our company's vision, mission and human resources policies with Great Place to Work certification; in order to ensure the sustainability of the Unique Steps project, we will continue to support our industry by creating positions in different regions in the future.

Congratulations to Globelink Ünimar on achieving the Special Jury Award category at the Atlas Logistics Awards!

Rocketing Covid-19 cases in China

With over 31,000 Covid-19 cases in November, lockdowns in China are being imposed once again in multiple cities in order to sustain the government’s zero-Covid policy. The current daily cases are exceeding peaks last seen during the lockdowns in Shanghai earlier this year. With the ongoing tight controls in different cities, the population’s patience is wearing thin and it’s leading to civil unrest. Anti-covid lockdown protests took place towards the last weekend of November which led to further disruptions to economical social unrest.

Economic outlook for China is not looking good as the outbreak and lockdowns are happening in areas that generate majority of the country’s GDP. The Christmas and Chinese New Year volume peaks and rush are definitely not visible this year. China is losing its edge and some of the international companies with huge productions have already start to move out of China in order to save on production cost and to avoid delays in their supply chains.

Most of the ports and CFS in China are still operating as normal. However, the prolonged lockdowns in different areas are creating problems for customers to deliver their cargo to the CFS/port, and the economic impact caused by the strict lockdowns remain to be seen.
